Stroller canopy tutorial

Remember THIS post?I promised that I will show You how to recover stroller canopy.I couldn't do it earlier, but better late than never ;).
So,this was a custom order,so I am not using my stroller canopy.Anyway,it is easy and if You know how to sew straight line,You can do it,there is no need to purchase universal solid colors stroller canopy, when You can make Your own,in any print You can imagine.
Let's start...
This is what customer brought me:
It wasn't looking good.
She wanted something cheerful and red. So,we decided to use red cotton for the front and red printed cotton for the back part of the canopy.First,I measured how much fabric I need for the front.

If Your stroller canopy is even a little bit complicated, try to take as much photos as You can,so You can easier put it together when You're done sewing.
I don't have photos, because this canopy was really simple.
I removed the whole canopy from the stroller frame.
Then these metal rods...
I placed canopy on the piece of fabric I wanted to use
Then I cut piece for the smaller part of the canopy, and then for the bigger part, but I left 2cm on the bottom (for both parts),so I can sew them together.
I placed smaller piece in the center of the bigger fabric piece and sewn them together.
So this is what I had:
Then I placed canopy, pinned all the way around and cut shape.
Same thing for this front part:
I also had to make tubes for metal rods and put velcro on some parts.I made little window...And of course,I sewn bias tape all over the canopy.

Let me know what do You think :)

Shoes makeover

My little girl is having birthday next month.I wanted to buy some flats for her,but I couldn't find anything cute,if it's cute it's too expensive and I didn't want to spend a lot of money for birthday shoes, because she already has a lot of shoes. Then I got these little shoes:
They were cute, pink and had a bow,but they were really damaged. So I decided to buy some acrylic paint (finally) and try to fix them.I have only this picture, but believe me,they were in really bed shape.
I bought pink metallic  acrylic paint, new brush and I already had red glitter.
10 minutes later,I had this:
They turned out really cute and look like new, although I am thinking to put some cute fabric instead of these  ugly shoes inserts.
I applied one layer of paint, without primer, and a little bit thicker layer of paint on the parts that were more damaged.

Elephant pillow tutorial

Some of my customers asked me to make little elephant pillow for a baby girl.It was really easy, quick and it is exactly what she wanted.

Materials You will need:
Cut 2 pieces of fabric for the pillow,35cm long and 25cm wide.
Cut 4 pieces for the ears,I just draw ears by hand on the piece of paper.
You will also need legs (mine are 9cm wide and 12cm long).
I used lightweight cotton,so I cut 2 pieces of batting(they should be a little bit smaller than ears).
Now sew ears(leave that side with straight line open, because it will be inside the pillow).Place fabric pieces right sides together.
Turn right sides out.
Put batting inside.
Now sew legs(leave one shorter side open).Again, place fabric pieces right sides together and sew, then turn right sides out and fill with batting.
You will also need a trunk,2 strips of fabric,30cm long and 6cm wide and eyes,2 small circles, diameter 3cm,and 2 bigger circles, diameter 6cm.I used white and dark navy cotton.

Place right sides together, then turn right sides out and tie a knot.
Place trunk on the right side of the pillow and attach it with few straight stitches.

Now sew eyes, place smaller circle in the center of the bigger one,and sew with zig zag stitch all the way around.
When You finish eyes, find the best position and sew them with zig zag stitch.
Place fabric pieces for the pillow right sides together and pin ears and legs between like this:
Sew all the way around, leaving an opening, turn right sides out and stuff Your pillow. So easy!
